India Launches 'DigiPIN': A Unified Digital Authentication System

The Government of India today announced the launch of 'DigiPIN', a new unified digital PIN system designed to streamline access to a wide range of government and financial services. This initiative is a cornerstone of the next phase of the Digital India program.

DigiPIN aims to replace the multiple passwords and PINs currently required for services like DigiLocker, UPI, and other citizen-centric portals. This will create a single, secure point of authentication for every citizen, enhancing both security and user convenience.

"DigiPIN is a landmark step towards enhancing security and simplifying the digital lives of our citizens. It is a testament to our vision of 'One Nation, One Digital Identity'," said the Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology.

The new system will be rolled out in phases, starting with major metropolitan areas over the next three months. Full nationwide integration is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
