Google Veo 2 Now Available To All Gemini Advanced Users

Google has released Veo 2, an upgraded video-generating AI model, exclusively for Gemini Advanced users (Google's premium AI plan) this week.

Veo allows users to generate videos up to eight seconds long using natural language text prompts. It is positioned as a competitor to OpenAI’s Sora model.

How to Use Veo 2:

  • Gemini Advanced subscribers can select Veo 2 from the model drop-down menu in the Gemini app.
  • Users can create 8-second video clips at 720p resolution (16:9 aspect ratio).
  • Generated clips can be shared directly to platforms like TikTok and YouTube via Gemini's share button.
  • Videos can also be downloaded in MP4 format.
  • Watermarking: Videos are watermarked using Google’s SynthID technology.
  • Limits: There's a monthly limit on video creation, with warnings as users approach it.
  • Rollout: The feature is rolling out globally and may take a few weeks to reach all eligible users.

Veo 2 Improvements:

  • Realism & Detail: Enhanced quality in the generated video elements.
  • Cinematography Understanding: Capable of interpreting technical terms in prompts (e.g., camera lens types, movements like panning or tilting, cinematic effects).
  • Reduced Hallucinations: Trained to minimize unwanted artifacts like extra fingers, morphing limbs, or unexpected items appearing in the video.

Future Integration:

  • Google plans to merge Veo 2 with "Whisk," an experimental Google Labs product that uses photos as prompts for image generation within Gemini.

Gemini Advanced Cost:

  • Currently $19.99 (approx. Rs 1,700) per month.
  • A two-month free trial is available for new subscribers.
