Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has disclosed that a substantial portion of the company's code is now being generated by artificial intelligence.

Speaking at Meta's LlamaCon conference during a discussion with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Nadella stated that between 20% and 30% of the code within Microsoft's repositories is currently produced by AI. This marks a significant transformation in the software development process.

Nadella emphasized that AI's role extends beyond code generation, noting its increasing importance in quality assurance. "The agents we have for reviewing code — that usage has increased," he said, indicating a broader integration of AI tools into Microsoft's software engineering workflow.

Nadella also commented on the varying effectiveness of AI-generated code across different programming languages. "Python is fantastic. C# is pretty good, but C++ is not that great," he explained, acknowledging the current limitations of AI in handling more complex or legacy coding languages.
