Iran Launches Missile Attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar Amid Iran-Israel Conflict
On June 23, 2025, Iran launched missile attacks targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East. This strike was in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities conducted the previous day, set within the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
Despite a barrage of 19 missiles, no American or Qatari personnel were harmed, and the base sustained minimal to no damage. The effective defense was credited to Qatar’s air defense systems, including U.S. Patriot missile batteries, and advance warning from Iran that enabled timely evacuation of personnel and aircraft.
The operation, codenamed "Operation Annunciation of Victory" by Iran’s IRGC, was intended to send a clear message that aggression against Iran will not go unanswered. Though a significant escalation, diplomatic efforts — with Qatar playing a pivotal role — soon led to a ceasefire announcement following the attack.
