Royal Challengers Bengaluru Clinch First IPL Title After 18 Years

Bengaluru is celebrating intensely as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have won their first-ever IPL title, ending an 18-year wait.

Historic Win

RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in a thrilling final match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Emotional Victory

The win brought immense emotional relief and joy, particularly for long-time RCB stalwart Virat Kohli, who was visibly in tears. The victory is seen as a tribute to the team's perseverance and the unwavering loyalty of its massive fanbase.

Grand Celebrations

Bengaluru is painting the town red and gold with widespread celebrations. The team's victory parade was planned for Wednesday, June 4, starting from Vidhana Soudha and culminating at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, though there were reports of the parade being cancelled or shortened due to traffic and safety concerns.

Tragic Incident

Unfortunately, the celebrations were marred by a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, resulting in 10 deaths and several injuries. Authorities, including CM Siddaramaiah and IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal, have acknowledged the tragedy, with the CM announcing ₹10 lakh compensation for the deceased's families and a magisterial inquiry.

Team's Homecoming

Despite the unfortunate incident, the team proceeded with a felicitation at the stadium, with Virat Kohli, along with former RCB legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle (who flew in for the final), participating in the celebrations. Kohli dedicated the win to former teammates and the loyal fans.
